GDPR - How to immediately delete your OVHcloud services
Objective
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can exercise the right to delete your OVHcloud account and all the services it contains.
This guide explains how to immediately and irreversibly delete your OVHcloud services as part of a GDPR data deletion request.
Requirements
- Access to the OVHcloud Control Panel.
- You must have verified that all your data has been backed up.
Instructions
To list your services, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on My offers and services.
The steps described below explain how to delete OVHcloud services immediately and irreversibly.
It is your responsibility to check in advance that you have a backup of your data and/or that you have a replacement service.
Deleting an OVHcloud service does not entitle you to a refund.
Web Cloud
Click on the title corresponding to the desired product to expand the instructions.
Domain name
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services. - Click on the
...button to the right of the concerned domain name, then onCancel my subscription. SelectCancel service nowand validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 45 to 60 days, depending on the domain extension, may be observed before the service is effectively deleted.
Web Hosting
Deleting a web hosting service results in the permanent deletion of all its data.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services. - Click on the
...button to the right of the concerned service, then onDelete web hosting plan immediately. Validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 45 days may be observed before the service is effectively deleted.
Email MX Plan
Deleting your MX Plan Email service results in the permanent deletion of all emails and data it contains.
If your MX Plan Email service is linked to a web hosting, proceed to delete it (see above).
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services. - Click on the
...button to the right of the concerned service, then onDelete MX Plan immediately. Validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 14 days may be observed before the service is effectively deleted.
Zimbra
Deleting your Zimbra Mail service results in the permanent deletion of all emails and data it contains.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Web Cloudand then onZimbra Mail. - Click on the
Email accounttab. Click on the⋮button to the right of each email account to delete and then onDelete. - Once all email accounts are deleted, click on the
Domaintab. Click on the⋮button to the right of each domain and then onDelete. - When the associated domains have been deleted, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services.- Use the
Filtertool on the right to list only theZimbra Email Accountservices. Click onAddto validate the filter. - Select all Zimbra accounts then click the
Actionsbutton andDisable automatic payment.

- Once these actions are completed, you can create a support ticket via the help center to request an accelerated deletion of the service.
Email Pro
Deleting your Email Pro service results in the permanent deletion of all emails and data it contains.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Web Cloudand then onEmail Proand select the concerned platform. - Click on the
Email accountstab. Click on the...button to the right of each email account to delete and then onReset this account. - Once all email accounts are deleted, click on the
Associated domainstab. Click on the...button to the right of each domain and then onDelete this domain. - When the associated domains have been deleted, click on the
Actionsbutton in the top right and then onCancel. Follow the steps described. - Once these actions are completed, you can create a support ticket via the help center to request an accelerated deletion of the service.
Microsoft Exchange
Deleting your Exchange service results in the permanent deletion of all emails and data it contains.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Web Cloudand then onMicrosoftand select the concerned Exchange platform. - Click on the
Email accountstab. Click on the...button to the right of each email account to delete and then onReset. - Once all email accounts are deleted, click on the
Associated domainstab. Click on the...button to the right of each domain and then onDelete this domain. - When the associated domains have been deleted, click on the
Actionsbutton in the top right and then onCancel. Follow the steps described. - Once these actions are completed, you can create a support ticket via the help center to request an accelerated deletion of the service.
DNS Zone
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services. - Click on the
...button to the right of the concerned DNS zone, then onCancel my subscription. - Once the cancellation is requested, you can create a support ticket via the help center to request its immediate application.
Web Cloud Databases
Deleting a Web Cloud Databases service results in the permanent deletion of all its data.
Use the Filter tool in My offers and services to find the Web Cloud Databases services named "Private SQL hosting".
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right corner and then on
My offers and services. - Click on the
...button to the right of the concerned service, then onDelete my Private SQL hosting service. Validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 45 days may be observed before the service is effectively deleted.
Bare Metal Cloud
Virtual Private Server (VPS)
The immediate deletion of a VPS results in the permanent and irrevocable deletion of all its data.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Bare Metal Cloudand then onVirtual private serversand select the concerned VPS. - In the
My offersection, click onCancel. SelectCancel service nowand validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 30 days may be observed before the service is effectively deleted.
Dedicated Server
The immediate deletion of a dedicated server results in the permanent and irrevocable deletion of all its data.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Bare Metal Cloudand then onDedicated Serversand select the concerned server. - In the
Service statussection, click on the...button to the right ofStatusand then onCancel my service. SelectCancel service immediatelyand validate by clicking onConfirm. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the deletion.
- Once these actions are completed, you can create a support ticket via the help center to request an accelerated deletion of the service.
vRack
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Bare Metal Cloudand then onNetworkand select the concerned vRack undervRack private network. - You must remove all services from a vRack in order to delete it. Select each service present in the vRack and click on
Remove. - Once all services are removed from the vRack, click on the
Cancelbutton. Validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the deletion.
Public Cloud
Public Cloud Project
The immediate deletion of a Public Cloud project results in the permanent and irrevocable deletion of all its services, data, resources and settings.
- In the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on
Public Cloudand select the concerned Public Cloud project. - Click on
Project settingsand then onDelete project. Validate by clicking onYes, cancel. - A confirmation email is automatically sent to the main email address of the OVHcloud account. Click on the link in this email to confirm the immediate deletion.
A period of 30 days may be observed before the services are effectively deleted.
Telecom
SMS
There is no cancellation procedure for SMS offers. An SMS account does not generate any monthly subscription or billing. SMS credits have an unlimited lifespan.
To delete an SMS account, we invite you to create a support ticket via the help center.
